Barb Portinga

Barb Portinga (Costume Designer)—appreciates the chance to make more art with folks who do theatre the way it is done at nimbus. She has been making her living solely via her varied costume skills since graduating from Augsburg College in 1990. With an emphasis on education, she is the resident designer at Minneapolis Community and Technical College, Anoka Ramsey Community College and Roseville Area High School. Her design work has been seen throughout the Midwest, from Utah to Door County, WI. Recent credits include: Black Death, The Musical for Apostasia Productions, Rocky Horror Show at Anoka Ramsey, Miranda at Illusion, The Gondoliers for Gilbert and Sullivan Very Light Opera Company, Urinetown at MCTC, The Bitter Tears of Petra vonKant for Shadow Horse, and Antigone at Anoka Ramsey Community College. Upcoming shows include: Medea at Roseville Area High School, Tartuffe at Main Street School of Performing Arts, Pirates of Penzance for PRIDE, Joseph at Artistry, and Ghostwriter at Commonweal. She received her on-the- job training at Chanhassen Dinner Theatre where she is a cutter/draper and tailor for each main stage show. Barb is the proprietor of Portable Costumes.
